Chabad in the City was founded with one simple mission: to bring warm, authentic, joyful Judaism to Jews living in the heart of the city.

In a place where young professionals are building careers, couples are starting families, and community is being reimagined neighborhood by neighborhood, there is a deep need for Jewish life that feels personal, accessible, and alive. Not institutional. Not intimidating. Just real.

Guided by the vision of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, every Chabad center operates on the belief that every Jew matters — regardless of background, level of observance, or prior experience. Judaism is not reserved for the already-connected. It belongs to every Jewish soul.

Our mission is to create spaces where Judaism is experienced, not just observed:

Shabbat dinners that feel like home.
Holiday celebrations that are spirited and meaningful.
Classes and conversations that make Torah relevant to modern life.
Moments of mitzvah that are simple, powerful, and transformative.

We serve Jews who live in apartments, condos, starter homes, and historic walk-ups. Those who work in offices, hospitals, startups, law firms, creative spaces, and everything in between. Those who grew up traditional. Those who didn’t. Those who are curious. Those who are searching. Those who just want community.

About the Gouraries

Chabad in the City is led by Levik and Mushky Gourarie, who moved here with a deep love for Jewish people and a passion for building community from the ground up.

The Gouraries believe that Jewish life should feel warm, welcoming, and deeply human. Their home is open. Their table is full. Their approach is personal. Whether it’s a late-night conversation, a first Shabbat dinner, a coffee meeting, or a life-cycle moment, they are committed to showing up with sincerity, care, and joy.

Together with their family, they are building not just programs — but relationships.

Young Jewish Professionals (YJP)

A central focus of Chabad in the City is Young Jewish Professionals.

YJP is for Jews in their 20s and 30s who are building careers, relationships, and identity — and who want Jewish life to grow alongside them. It’s social without being shallow. Meaningful without being heavy. Authentic without pressure.

From Shabbat dinners and holiday events to networking opportunities and Torah discussions, YJP creates a space where ambitious, thoughtful Jewish adults can connect — to each other and to something deeper.

Because Jewish life in the city shouldn’t be something you outgrow.

It should be something you grow into.
